Not likely
By the time the car was made to conform to U.S. EPA and safety standards, it would be an entirely different car costing 3 to 4 times as the one sold in India.
It would need a larger engine as it’s 60 MPH top speed would create a hazard on the highway.
Good question… needs to be crash tested first!
possibly but it will not happen too soon because it hasn been released in india yet
plus the the cheap one does not come with air conditioning, a side window, or air bags
no, cuz the car makers donate money to the goverment for favors and one favor would be not to bring in competition, another reason is maybe the car would not be safe in US roads
No, it will never pass emissions test here in the U.S., but it would be fun to watch it in a crash test… =}
More than likely no because foreign cars are usually smaller in other countries because in the city areas the streets are smaller than ours and usually more crowded. When i was in Spain I was so shocked to see how different they’re vehicles are and how small they were compared to ours and this was in Madrid.
look on yahoo news they introduced it today. Its out next yr. ppl have spoken for the initial run w/ a 99$ dollar down payment.
Its almost like your wish is true or not, or your asking a ? to see if ppl. read yahoo. 2 seater 3 cyl. very eco. 4 ft. smaller than the mini.
NO. Wont pass safety regulations and lacks other requirements.
Plus, they wont sell us a car that cheap. that wouldmean competition and then other cars, trucks and SUV’s will need to reduce their much high retail price
Diffenately needs to be crash tested cause my fourwheeler is bigger than that thing.
it will be sold in the us but it will be a little bit. i cannot give a precise date.
Not likely due to safety factors, but possible. Check out Smart cars; another small car from Europe that will soon be released in the US. http://smartusa.com/index.aspx
I laugh at the response that says the auto manufacturers donate money to the government for favors. That’s just a nice way to say describe bribery.
no. like the first person said, it would have to meet our epa standards. it’s highly doubtful it will. my brother was in india for a couple of weeks and he said the smell alone was awful from the amount of exhaust put out on the streets. now nissan is looking to make a 3000 dollar car. and it won’t be long before the major american companies are scrambling to keep up. i mean look at the low end cars that are out now for around 10,000. the come with air, seat belts, air bags, anything you would actually need. american car companies will make sure they can safely manufacture a car that would be cheap before they allow one of these to come to the states.
the short answer no………nissan already sells a subcompact in the U.S. called the Versa but it’s about 14,000-17,000 dollars (U.S.)
Never in a million years. Its a total piece of junk and it could never meet our safety standards are D.O.T standards. I gurantee that no aspect of the nano is street legal in the U.S
safety standards arent upto US laws yet and on the contrary the basic feature’s like powersteering and air con are missing
so it looks like another decade till it might reach US shores
It will be launched in october this year after meeting the demand in india tata will export it.
Yes, they will export it some people having question about safety. that is not mater because they will meet the standard by adding some cost for modify the body for air bags and attaching the rods in four sides. key less entry all give at the price tag will be 3,700 $. that is also a very cheep for other modern countries & there pepule love to drive it in city. It will give hard comption to many of the car makers. Those countries who having their own nation companys and they having the high import dutys those will also take very Sirously to NANO.
A giant big lap in automobile indrustry from India.
China want to say anythig?
So dont say “NO” say “NANO” (Proving of YES)
Crash Test HMMM
This is nothing more then a motorcycle with a body around it. That is how the american goverment and people need to look at it. I think the min speed for US highways is 45mph so they have 15 more mph to spare.
Far as air bags and side windows. I have a nice jeep that doesnt even have a door on it much less a window.
I wouldn’t care if I had to buy one each year at 2500.00 and 50mpg.
Well, the car is very similar to European models, which certainly pass safety standards. Also, I doubt that 60mph would be “hazardous” on the roads since most highways only allow a maximum of 65-75, while the minimum speed is 40mph. Like mopeds and motorcycles though, it doesn’t necessarily have to be driven on the highway. Personally, I drive the back roads more often and would love to own such a fuel-efficient car (50 mpg), particularly since gas prices are sky high and will only continue to increase.
The rest of the world is welcoming the Tata Nano with open arms. The car is low on emissions, has crumple zones, can comfortably fit 4 people–it’s the closest thing to a hybrid at an affordable price. Frankly, I think that if the US rejects the model, it would be in the interests of large auto & oil companies rather than US citizens.
TATA NANO is intended for the Indian market and in the future, the developing countries. It is not aimed at N America or EU.
Therefore, TATA will not be marketing it in the USA.
Regarding Pollution:
TATA NANO adheres to Euro IV norms, and as a matter of fact, emission norms in India are far stricter than in the USA. That is why Harley-Davidson cannot enter India.
Regarding Safety:
Although not ideal for highway speeding, this car does pass the Indian frontal crash tests and has side impact resistant features and body-bonded rear window. TATA said, that with some modifications, it could be made to conform to US safety standards. They also said that air-bags can be installed, but that will hike the price of the car.
The real reason why it will NOT be available to Americans is:
The powerful oil companies’ lobby will not allow this car in the USA, because if people started trading their gas guzzling 8-cylinder SUVs for this car, the oil price will drop, and so will their profits.
If allowed in all fairness, this car will dominate the US market, and that is what is feared by the Detroit 3. They don’t want this car in USA.
What US carmakers do:
Make a product and artificially create the need.
What Indian carmakers do:
Study the need and create the product.
It is however refreshing to see many Americans today are less gullible to be brainwashed into buying a gas-guzzling Hummer or a truck-sized sedan.
So, finally, the answer to your question is, it will not be sold in the USA.
IM me if you need more details.
they may go Tata Nano car because fuel efficiency it will save future fuel and less pollution with latest norm
