are right hand drive cars legal the one with the steering wheel on the right?

you know those cars from europe and asia where the steering wheel is on the right side are they legal in the states (united states)

Yes, my boyfriend has a Triumph TR7 with the steering on the right side. Boy, is it weird to drive.
